BANGKOK: The Department of Special Investigation is expected to wrap up within this month its probe into the money trails of 878 cheques issued by the former management of Klongchan Credit Union Cooperatives to seven groups of recipients, including Wat Dhammakaya.

Pol Lt-Col Pakorn Suchivakul, commander of the DSI’s financial and banking affairs division who is in charge of the investigation, said that the priority of the investigation was on individuals and legal entities which have received cheques from the cooperatives despite the fact that the cooperatives did not owe them any debts.

Wat Dhammakaya was reported to have received several cheques worth up to over a billion baht from the cooperatives although the cooperatives did not owe any debts to the temple.

Pol Lt-Col Pakorn said that the DSI would take legal actions any recipients of the cooperatives’ cheques who were not supposed to receive them in the first place because there was no debt obligation between them and the cooperatives.

The seven groups of cheque recipients include Wat Dhammakaya, a host of cooperatives, ordinary individuals, land brokers, legal entities and other suspects.

Didn't they have the common sense to create fake invoices and pay the VAT to stay under the radar? facepalm.giffacepalm.giffacepalm.gif

You seem to forget that when this was done, who was running the country. Who cut the budget for DSI. Whose son also received one or more of those checks.

In light of this your question would be irrelevant because back when this was done, nobody cared or had any fears of getting caught.

Same common sense Thaksin used when he sold his AIS holding without paying one satang in tax,

which ultimately incurred the people ire and brought his downfall.....

And someone should take a close look at Wat Dhammakaya, it's about high time to find out

what is really going on there, being the most influential, richest and biggest powerhouse

in this country....

The temple witch hunt continues.

' Wrap Up ' has many connotations, especially here.

I have come to believe they are wasting their time investigating Wat Dhammakaya as it appears to be untouchable. It's amazing how these billionaire monks seem to be able to get away with anything. Case in point the jet set monk with the Gucci adornments.

I suspect that the suspects will recieve 500BHT fine.

The money will never be recovered.

Maybe some of it was used in the Gypsy land scandel.

.........a billion baht to a temple they do not do any business with....wow......

...and someone called it a witch hunt.....wow......

Beginning to think some temples are just money laundering operations.

A donation is not business.

why don't you do a little bit of research before you write such nonsense!

A donation of 20 baht to 20 billion baht is still a donation. Big or small.

i thought there was to be an extradition application or is that simply another resident in the ' File and Forget ' cabinet ?

It certainly is to some monks.
