Multiple re-entry permit and 90 day report

Featured Replies

I left Thailand on 5 February from Samui Airport with a multiple re-entry permit. This is the first time I have bought a multiple re-entry permit as I know I have to leave Thailand at least three times this year. Earlier years I have only bothered with single re-entry permits. As I went through Immigration I noticed the Immigration Officer removed a paper from my passport, but I assumed this only was my Departure Card. However, flicking through my passport when I was airborne I noticed that the paper with the 90 day notice and bar code also had been removed from my passport.

My question is: Did the Immigration Officer make a mistake when he removed my 90 day report notice? Or are you exempt from 90 day reporting if you have a multiple re-entry permit? What should I do? Should I report to Samui Immigration on the original date of my 90 day report (in the first week of April) and explain that the 90 day notice was removed by mistake or could I ignore the 90 day reporting and show up at Samui Immigration when I apply for my next one year Extension of Stay (late November)? Advice please.

No, he made no mistake. The receipt for your last 90-day report had a date on it when you would have to do the next report but that date is no longer valid. Your next report will now be due 90 days after your return to Thailand.

The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place

I returned to Thailand on 20 February. My next 90 day report should then be approx. 20 May. By coincidence I will leave Thailand again on 21 May, returning 6 June with my multiple re-entry permit. Can I wait until approx. 6 September to do my next 90 day report and by doing so be in hot water with Samui Immigration for not reporting on 20 May, one day before I leave Thailand. Does Maestro or anybody else know what is correct. Thanks.

Your report is due on May 19th. Technically you should do the report before leaving but since you will not have done one for a long time they will probably not notice you didn't do the report before leaving.

Thanks, Ubonjoe. So what is the worst case scenario if I do not report on 19 May, but wait until early September, and by doing so upset Samui Immigration. A fine?

Late 90 day reporting usually attracts a 2000 Bht fine.

Thanks for the input, very helpful. I think I will like to stay on the safe side of things and do my 90 day report before I leave in May.
