More ambulances needed for the Royal Flora Ratchaphruek 2006

Chiang Mai Deputy Governor Wilas Rujiwattanapong (นายวิลาศ รุจิวัฒนพงศ์) said there are enough medical service stations at the Royal Flora Ratchaphruek 2006, but more ambulances are needed.

About 20,000 visitors are expected to daily visit the Royal Flora Ratchaphruek 2006, scheduled for November 1, 2006 to January 31, 2007, at the Royal Agricultural Station in Tambon Mae Hia, Muang District, Chiang Mai. Illnesses, ranging from mild to severe, are most likely to occur especially with elderly visitors or those with personal diseases. Enough medical services including ambulances would help reduce damage to the patients.

The deputy governor noted that the Royal Flora Ratchaphruek 2006 is one of the world’s biggest events; as a result, readiness in medical service is one of important factors contributing to the success of the event.

Unexpected situations can ruin the reputation of not only the organizing committee but also the country.

If they have enough medical service stations , presumably they have enough trained personnel. In some places in Europe they have trained paramedics going around on bicycles, they have phone/radio communication and a good stock of medicines and equipment. Mostly see them in holiday places , especially with narrow or pedestrian streets. I've seen them on call many times and it really seems like a good idea. With all the investment for this exhibition surely a few of these wouldn't blow the budget. :o
