Paradise beach

Went to paradise beach two nights ago. What a change it is now one big beach club with restaurants, bars, stage overpriced drinks 180 baht for Sam Miguel . It cost a minimum 500 baht per person entry depending on package bought. For this we got a mock tail. How is it possible they built this as they are obviously profiting from the beach with deck chairs and beanbags and tables and chairs for eating. They have out payed a huge amount of money and as it turned into night there would of been lucky to be 30 people

Anybody else been there

Major General Praveen Pongsirin 081 8936083. (reporting of beach encroachers)

Yes, report it, but it's not like this crime is happening in a dark Soi in Phuket Town, it's a beach.

Would it hurt the Major General to order some regular patrols of the beaches, unless, of course, he has full knowledge of what is going on.

As mentioned in the OP the owners of this land have massively expanded to make the whole area adjacent to the beach into a beach club complex.

As long as they're not infringing on the King's beach, I guess they are entitled to develop their land. Quite clever really, they've jumped into a niche left after illegal structures were moved from beaches elsewhere. A good place for such a facility in my opinion, and I see they are organizing beach parties including full moon parties there. For those who want such things and are happy to pay for it. They even have shuttle buses from Patong resorts.

South end of patong (beach road) guys

Quite a long way from south end of Patong beach, and over the hills past the Melin Beach Resort (Freedom Beach), then over another hill into Paradise Beach.

But correct directions , guess i should of said its about 10 mins away from south end of the beach road then being so far. ???

The only way to know if they're encroaching on government land would be to examine the land titles for that area. Even that's not 100% reliable as we all know that titles for land near the sea in Phuket can be dodgy, but it would be a good start.

I recall a couple of years ago they got in trouble for harassing and collecting fees from tourists arriving via longtail boats. The issue in that matter was that the crown owns all beaches up to the high tide watermark, so they were essentially charging an entrance fee to the crown's land. It's entirely possible, however, that the area inland from the high tide mark is privately owned (including the access road), but this needs to be checked.
