Visa advice

Featured Replies

Hi

Hope someone can give me some accurate advice here,I've heard so many different stories lately.

My 30 day extension on a 60 day single entry tourist visa from Laos expires on 17th Feb.

I was hoping to do a visa run on the 17th to Cambodia from Pattaya and get a new 60 day SETV but having spoken to a couple of people it seems this might not be possible.

I'm just looking for some advice about what's the best thing to do.

I also have a baby here with a Thai girl,we are not together but I support her financially and have a birth certificate in Thai and English with my name on it. Would applying for a family visa be a better option and if so what do I require in the way of paperwork.

Any help and advice is greatly appreciated

With the child's birth certificate and tabian ban you may be able to obtain a 90 day, single entry *O" visa at the consulate in Savannkhet.

  • Short term, if you want another 60 days you could ask your local immigration office for a 60 day extension of stay based on being a parent (1,900) but you would need to take your child with you.
  • As said you could try of a single entry non 'O' from Savannakhet.
  • If you can show at least 100k baht in the bank you could try Penang, Malaysia for a 1 year multiple entry non 'O' visa.
  • No reason why you can't get a SETV from any embassy/consulate that you haven't had multiple tourist visas from already.

When applying for either an extension of stay or non 'O' visa you will need an original birth certificate and may need signed copies of the mothers ID and Tabien Baan.

You can get the single entry non-o visa at most nearby embassies and consulate. Vientiane or Savannakhet Laos would be the best choice. You will need their birth certificate and a copy of their house book registry.

You could get a multiple entry non-o in Penang if you can show 100k baht in the bank or proof of income.

You can also get a 60 day extension to visit your child at immigration. You would need to have your child with you when you apply. Birth certificate and house book copy would also be needed.
