3,486 Couples married on Valentine's Day

BANGKOK, 15 February 2016 (NNT) - The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) has revealed that the number of couples who completed wedding registrations on the 14th February in the capital's 38 districts stands at 3,486, an increase of 578 compared to last year’s Valentine's’ Day.

Bang Rak district remains the most popular site for couples to register their weddings, at 1,045 couples, as the district's name symbolizes love. Lad Si came second with 173 couples, followed by Bang Sue with 160, Saphan Sung with 136, Don Mueang 125, and Bang Khun Thian with 114.

There was a vibrant atmosphere at registration stations throughout Valentine’s Day, with various districts organizing games and activities for the couples waiting in line. Random rewards for some couples in Bang Rak district included a distribution of gold, fully reimbursed Honeymoon trips to Korea for five days and three nights, along with insurance certificates.

Lak Si district was also a popular registration destination due to its name “Lak Si”, meaning the 4 pillars. It is believed that any couple registering in the district were tying their love knot according to the 4 pillars, including “tolerance” “knowing one's duty”, “morale creating goodness” and lastly “a family for you to take care of”. The district also gave out many gifts to lucky couples such as Facial Treatments for Couples, and Free Health Check-ups.

Various other districts were also reported to be lively as Thailand fully embraced Valentines Day.

Marriage on Valentines day is a great idea; Never forget your anniversary and only one combined gift per year. Probably considered a "lucky day" as well!

Where did the St go? Still, nice to see all these catholic weddings...
