CHIANG MAI, 20 February 2016 (NNT) – Interior Minister Gen Anupong Paochinda has urged that government officials put the public’s interests before their own. His comment came during a visit to the northern province of Chiang Mai.

The interior minister met with local authorities, village headsmen, and community leaders from 17 provinces at the International Convention and Exhibition Center Commemorating His Majesty’s 7th Cycle Birthday Anniversary, also known as Chiang Mai International Convention and Exhibition Center.

Gen Anupong asked them to best carry out their given duties, ensure efficiency in their work, and help solve people’s problems. He said local officials should always try to maximize the benefits of the people as well as improve the well-being of the people in their respective areas.

He also instructed them to keep all tourist destinations clean, maintain order in every community, and crack down on all illegal activities.

And then they all go home and ignore every word that has been said !!

That will be the day. Was that another flying pig?

He forgot to mention regular brushing and flossing.

I remember when I sat through similar lectures.

In High School civics class...

The public always come first. First to pay under the table, first to suffer "additional" costs, first to be guilty until proven innocent, blah blah blah. coffee1.gif

I'm sure the average official will happily change the habits of a lifetime and fall over themselves to comply. rolleyes.gif

Incidentally shouldn't the govt itself practice what it preaches ?

And then they all go home and ignore every word that has been said !!

DEFINITELY. In a "me" society what more could be expected. "Public Servants" are only in developed countries - at best.

put the public’s interests before their own.

Vote for the Meechai draft charter for the best interest of the nation and not for personal dislike.

Individuality is not welcomed in the Prayut regime.

Unless of course you're a general.

Cheesus, order them !!

No compliance jail for you.

put people’s interests first

says General Anupong...

Pretty rich stuff from this guy.... coffee1.gif

On the positive side: I like it when an acting minister is keen of the idea this country is ready for a drastic change...
