Marriage visa extension require Work Permit despite I have 400000+ ?

Recommended Posts

Hi

I just extended my Non"O" visa based on marriage (~Marriage visa)

As always I document that I have 400000+ in the bank for min 2 month according to the rules.

But this year they further required a copy of my work permit to document I earn money......

(I have work permit so.... "mai bpen ray")

This this a new requirement or did I just apply on a bad day ??

I newer had to document work permit before, if i have 400000+ in bank...

There is no requirement to have a work permit unless you are using the income from working to meet the 40k baht income requirement.

Were they aware you are working? If yes I suspect that is the reason they asked for it.

I Know...

"Yes" - They know I am working.

They say that I need to document I earn money, since I have 400000+.

The officer is the same officer as last year and a very nice woman who speak

very good english and always are nice..

I know people here do not want to hear about good police officers, but they

do exist biggrin.png

(P.s Officers in the immigration is actually police officers)

Errrr they should not be asking for that.

Are you sure they didn't misunderstood and thought that you were earning 40k per month (as per the law if you don't have 400K you must have a 40K monthly income).

It would explain why they would be asking you to see your WP.

Did you had the letter from the bank ? I would try again and explain them seelowly :D

If the money does not come from overseas would seem a logical request to see work permit.

TH

Not for an extension based upon marriage and using the 400k baht in the bank option. The wife's income from working or a family business could be used tor the family to live on.

sorry, mate, can you please explain that to me again...

you went for an extension based on marriage, had the right amount of thb in your account, and they wanted you to produce evidence of your thai income?

They required a Workpermit

I think they wanted to see where the money come from.

When I in 1 month get the stamp.... I will ask them why they ask for WP.

And report back here ;-)

So your application was accepted despite you not having a WP?

You may be correct in that immigration wants to see some movement of funds during the year relating to living expenses and they may also be interested in your source of funds.

See UJ's post above.
