PHUKET: -- The bodies of two men who went missing while canoeing off Phuket on Saturday (Feb 21) have been found. One man is still missing, whilst a ten year old boy who was also out on the canoe is safe The Phuket News has learned.

More than 15 Marine Police and Kusoldharm rescue workers went out to search for the missing pair yesterday (Feb 22) after they had been reported missing from the waters off Koh Sireh since Saturday night.

“There were four people who went out fishing on one canoe,” explained Lt Col Panya Chaichana of the Phuket Marine Police.

“The canoe, carrying Wisuth Prasert, 58; Mard Pantip, 52; Laong Thongpitak, 53, and a 10-year-old Sontaya Kasikul when it began to sink when they were about 100 metres offshore.

No mention of wether they could swim or not, or if they were wearing life jackets. Many fishermen on my river cannot swim. If they fall in, they drown. Happens a couple of times a year.

No chance they were wearing life jackets. And I also doubt very much they could swim. Now if people who can't swim go out on a big boat I understand, but on a small boat like that, that can capsize any moment? Simply stupid IMO.

There's your sign...they probably all four ride the same 100cc motorcycle when they are not all fishing in a one man canoe..

thais laugh when i get the safety jackets out.... "waste money for what?"

for surviving if my kayak sinks somchai. now guess why i wasted money buying kevlar biking gear...

PHUKET: -- The body of the third man been missing since Saturday (Feb 21) after the canoe he and his friends were fishing from capsized off Koh Sireh was found in a mangrove in Rassada yesterday (Feb 23).

Marine Police continued their search for the man after discovering the body of Mard Pantip, 52, earlier

so sad something like this had to happen but why didn't they check the boat it took in water 100metres from shore and 4 people on board too many so sad rip gentlemen ,
