SA KAEO, 24 February 2016 (NNT) – Government agencies are now pushing forward the development of the Special Economic Zone in Sa Keao province, in keeping with the state's policy of enhancing the nation’s capability.

The Treasury Department and the Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand (IEAT) have signed the 50-year government surplus land leasing contract, to establish an industrial estate in Sa Kaeo Province’s Special Economic Zone.

The Treasury Department’s Director-General Chakkrit Parapuntakul has said the department has leased 650 rais of land in Aranyaprathet District, at the discounted rate to the Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand, and will be working on future contracts of leasing more lands in the provinces of Songkhla and Tak.

IEAT Director Verapong Chaiperm has said the leased land in Sa Kaeo will be developed to support the service and logistics industries. The actual construction of the industrial estate's infrastructure improvement stage is expected to commence within 2017.

The IEAT will have to propose this construction project to the Office of the National Economics and Social Development Board, and the State Enterprise Policy Office for their approval, and submit the Environmental Impact Assessment Report to the Office of Natural Resources and Environmental Policy and Planning, before the project can be proposed to the Cabinet. Interested investors will be able to observe the actual area from April onwards.
