A Cambodian Monk in South Korea alleged that there are some officials in the Foreign and Interior Ministries illegally issuing service passports for Cambodian migrants in order to work in South Korea, according to video footage posted by a local media outlet on Monday. The Foreign Ministry ordered the Cambodian Embassy in South Korea to investigate the claim.

According to the video, the monk said that some migrant workers did not hold normal passports while working in Korea, but service passports, which had been issued for public servants only.

The monk did not reveal his name in the video footage, and he said that he got his information from illegal migrant workers who had been arrested and for whom he helped interpret for South Korean authorities.
