US: Obama signs bill extending privacy protections

WASHINGTON: -- US President Barack Obama has signed legislation that would extend some US privacy protections.

It would take in citizens of allied countries and allow foreigners to sue the American government, if their personal data is unlawfully disclosed.

The bill has bipartisan support, according to Obama.

The bill is aimed at shoring up trust after leaks by former NSA contractor Edward Snowden.

Obama said the new law makes sure data is protected under US privacy laws, “not only American citizens, but also foreign citizens.”

I personally do not believe any American has any privacy when it comes to the US government...the "Patriot Act" did away with almost all citizen's privacy...

some American citizens (like Edward Snowden) fought for better privacy for everybody, and they are now getting it.

I have no worries. Tim Cook, CEO of Apple, is protecting my rights as we speak. As he said, it should be the gov't protecting them and not a corporation.

While they try to get the ability to Hack everyone's Iphone
