Garbage On Beaches After Bangkok Flooding?

Featured Replies

Just returned from a short stay in Hua Hin and the beach had alot of garbage on it.....the beaches have always been clean before so I asked a local and they said that when there is a flood in Bangkok then garbage washes up on the beaches in Hua Hin.

Is this correct?...if so then I will consider this in planning my next stay in HH....i.e. I'll plan to not come during or maybe a week after flood waters in Bangkok....opinions welcomed.

I think this is true for Central & northern Hua Hin beaches , yes. My toddler went paddling at the beach near Hin Nam Sai Suay one weekend & got a rash, which was (I think) connected with an oil refinery leak near Bangkok. :o

However, the beaches south of HH, like Suan Son, etc., seem to be less exposed & less affected by Bangkok's dirty habits! :D

My former neighbor sent me photos of it. Doesn't sound half as bad as the one a year ago, which dumped horrendous trash, whole palm trees, flotsam, jetsam, and I think the Jetsons washed ashore, also.

i live on the beach near to hin naam sai suay ( northern h-h ), certainly no oil slicks to be seen and no flotsam or jetsam apart from the usual stuff that gets tossed of the fishing boats , jellyfish at this time of the year can sting and cause rashes , but the beaches around here seem pretty normal.

the worst things are the broken light bulbs from the fishing boats , best to wear some kind of footwear on the beach or when swimming.

a lot of stuff washes up in the khow takiap bay , mostly plant life and fishing boat litter , december and january are the worst times for that.

  • 2 weeks later...

i live in chaam for the most of the year but i haven't seen anything like what you mention.

the beach is still as "clean" as ever ...

a little more wood yes, but the weekly cleaning day did his work (wedndays)

no problem at all...enjoy your beach hollidays !!! :o
