BANGKOK, 27 February 2016 (NNT) – Thai Foreign Affairs Minister Don Pramudwinai discussed with Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Minister Hor Namhong on the Thai-Cambodian partnership in Vientiane, Laos.

The talk held during the ASEAN Foreign Ministers Retreat-AMM Retreat in the Lao capital, covered Thailand's candidature for a non-permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council as well as Cambodia’s candidature for a seat on the United Nations Economic and Social Council of the United Nations and regional cooperation such as Mekong-Lanchang Cooperation (MLC) and the 14th Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) to be hosted by Thailand from March 8-10, 2016.

Cambodia doesn't need Thailand's support for its candidature for a seat on the United Nations Economic and Social Council of the United Nations and regional cooperation. Thailand will have to win a seat on the UN Security Council on its own merits. Such as the junta's willingness to overthrow elected governments and suppress freedom of expression.

It is always a good idea for neighbors to talk and listen to the ideas of others. It is called communications within ASEAN. If your neighbor knows your plans, they can support you, whether they will assist or not is up to them.

"This Laotian food is excellent. Pass the French champagne."

"OK. What is champagne?"

"Listen, if we are going to have a seat on the UN football league, you need to learn what all this stuff is."

"OK."
