Exit and reentry @ Mae Sai

Featured Replies

I live in Chiang Mai and have a non-immigrant O-A and the enter before date is March 17, 2016. The girl and I have plans to go to Mae Sai on Saturday the 12th, stay overnight in Mae Sai, exit Thailand on the morning of the 13th, return around 12 noon and head back to Chiang Mai on the 13th. Anything wrong with this plan?

Also, after I exit and reenter I will need to obtain a multiple reentry permit. Can I just go to immigration any time and get this? I won't be going anywhere until June.

TIA

That seems like a good plan.

You don't have to get a multiple re-entry permit unless you plan on traveling several times during the coming year. You could get a single re-entry permit at any time prior to you trip.

  • The re-entry permit will be good until the expiry date of your next 1 year permit to stay (12 Mar, 2017)

You can get it anytime from your local immigration office, or prior to departure at the major airports.

Single entry 1,000 baht.

Multiple entry 3,800 baht.

All went well in Mae Sai. Easy out/in. Not very crowded.

There was a poster stating new overstay rules upon entry.
