Police, hotels seek to identify dead Asian man found floating off Karon Beach

PHUKET: -- Authorities are speaking with staff at Karon hotels in hopes of identifying an Asian man whose floating lifeless body was retrieved from off Phuket's west coast this afternoon.

At 3.50pm on February 28, Pol Capt Chatree Chuwitchian of Karon Police was alerted of a suspected drowning incident in front of a popular hotel on the north end of Karon Beach.

At the scene, police and rescue workers found a large crowd gathered around and looking on as lifeguards attempted to revive a motionless Asian man lying on his back in the sand.

Described to be between the ages of 25 and 30, the shirtless man was wearing only black shorts.

The sea off Karon beach is no joke, with much stronger currents than e.g. Kata. There is a more or less constant number of casualties there each year.

Read the link, this man has now been identified. Apparently a guest at Centara.

Yet another Chinese drowning death.

I was at at the beach yesterday in Rayong and went for a swim. The pull of the waves are strong. Not a wonder those that can't swim succumb to the water.

yeah, it's dangerous to swim in these days. Everywhere Cinese. Some are even speechless. Anyway RIP
