A man from Pursat province’s Phnom Kravanh district was killed in an unexploded ordinance (UXO) blast on Sunday, according to police officials. 58-year-old Chea Heng left his home to gather firewood in a nearby forest when a buried bomb exploded, Major Vorng Saveth, police chief of the Phnom Kravanh district, told Khmer Times.

“The bomb exploded, killing the victim instantly,” he said. “After the explosion, one side of the victim’s body was fatally destroyed.” Phnom Kravanh was once a frontline conflict zone between the Khmer Rouge and government forces in the 1980s.
