Four Cambodian maids have been rescued from Malaysia after being detained by Malaysian authorities in Balantik camp in Kedah state for crossing the border illegally, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Ministry spokesman Chum Sounry said that all four women, Horn Sreyneang, 25, Oul Sreykhouch, 34, from Mesang district, Abdolors Royma, 26, from Prey Veng, and Sam Phork, 42 of Battambang province had crossed the border from Thailand to Malaysia by truck in 2014. They left Cambodia attempting to find work.

While working as maid, Ms. Phork gave birth to a baby boy in December 2015. The women were supplied with food and accommodation while awaiting repatriation by the embassy, which also paid for their plane tickets.
