Thaidude
I am confused about this Visa. Isnt it supposed to be like if you are married to a Thai, you can stay there forever without any 90 days hassles or am i missing something? I thought once you are married to a thai you are a permanent citizen of Thailand
swampdonkey
You could not be much more wrong. What have you been reading
sunnyjim5
I do not know where you got your information but it is wrong. Marriage to a Thai person does NOT provide citizenship.
Thaidude
I see, please correct me if I am wrong here. What is that Visa about?
Liquorice
There is no Marriage Visa! You either have a Non Immigrant O (Multi entry) Visa issued by a Thai Embassy/Consulate based on being married to a Thai. With that Visa you must leave and re-enter Thailand every 90 days. OR You have an extension of stay issued by a local Immigration office based on marriage to a Thai. You must report every 90 days to a local Immigration office.
elviajero
I see, please correct me if I am wrong here. What is that Visa about? People often wrongly call an extension of stay based on marriage a "Marriage Visa". You are given permission to stay for 1 year and don't need to leave. You must report to immigration every 90 days. At the end of each year you can apply for a new 1 year extension of stay. You can stay here indefinitely as long as the extension is renewed every year. Being married does not give you citizenship or permanent residency, just the right to apply for an extension of stay.
