Man Dead After Jealous Axe Attack

A man was hacked to death outside his girlfriend’s Cham Srey village home by a fellow farmer, who police suspect was motivated by jealousy, late Tuesday night in Preah Sihanouk province’s Kampong Sela commune.

The victim, 56-year-old Phall Van, and his girlfriend had just returned to her house after a night of dancing when the suspect, Houn Vichet, 47, attacked him with an axe as he was leaving.

“The victim came back with his girlfriend to his girlfriend’s house. He and his girlfriend went inside. Then the suspect, who was waiting for the victim, hacked him when he walked out of the house,” deputy police chief Noun Hong said.
