Health Ministry Warns of Counterfeit Hepatitis Drugs

The Ministry of Health issued a warning to the public to be wary of two common medications for the treatment of Hepatitis C, counterfeit versions of which have been found circulating in Myanmar. Health Ministry spokesman Dr. Ly Sovann did not know whether counterfeit versions of the drugs – Daclatasvir and Sofobuvir – had made their way into Cambodia, and said the alert was a preemptive measure.

“The products are not the medicines they say they are, but could be flour. If our people buy them, they will waste time and money,” Dr. Sovann said. The source of the counterfeits has not been found, the ministry said.
