Hello, i am a french citizen currently in Paris. I have been staying in Thailand for the last 6 months on 2 tourists visas of 90 days. Now i want to go back to Bangkok and i applied for a third one at the Thai embassy in Paris. Problem is they told me it was impossible cause apparently no one can stay for more than 90 days on a tourist visa during within6 months period. Which doesnt make sense as i got a second visa 3 months ago from Phnom Penh.... Now i want to try and get into the country with a visa on arrival but i am afraid to be refused at the border. Does anyone know if i is risky to just fly there and try get in without a visa?

Thanks for your tips.

That is the Paris embassy's requirement. You must be back in France 90 days before you can get a new visa. Many reports about it.

You can get a 30 day visa exempt entry and then a 30 day extension of it. You may need to show a ticket out of the country within 30 days to board your flight back though. A one way ticket to a nearby country will overcome that problem.

  • That is a rule applied by the Paris embassy. You could get another SETV from another country.

You should have no problem entering using visa exempt entry as long as you haven't had a lot already BUT the airline might want to see an onward flight dated within 30 days. It can be a flight to any country. The airline could stop you flying without the onward ticket.

A 30 day visa exempt entry can be extended by 30 days at an immigration office for 1,900 baht.

You should have no problem getting another SETV from Vientiane/Savannakhet Laos or Penang, Malaysia.
