Pass photos needed to get documents

Featured Replies

Hello,

Yesterday I went to the immigration to get a Certificate of Residence to renew my driver's license.

Big surprise: I needed 2 pass photos!

As the officer told me now they will ask pics for almost all documents.

So plan ahead and always have pass photos when you go to the immigration thumbsup.gif

Years ago, I found out it was a good idea to keep about a dozen passport photos in the clear passport protector that holds my passport. I can't count the number of times I've saved a delay in getting documents when there wasn't a photographer on hand.

I also keep a few $100 bills in there, too- but the bills haven't been needed in 15 years.

I also had some in my wallet but I never thought I would need them for a Certificate of Residence!

Nothing new about needing photos for the certificate of residence.

Whether a passport size photo is the correct size would depend what size you are writing about. The standard of 2 X 2 inches would be OK but 3.5 X 4.5 cm would be to small.

There are misc. immigration forms that show a required size of 4x6 cm (1.6 x 2.4 inch).

Quite "big".

I use this size for extension yearly.

When I mention photo size for immigration forms I always write 4 X 6 cm. I have seen people turned away because their photos were to small. I have used extra 2 X 2 inch photos left over from getting my passport renewed and trimmed the width to 4 cm.
