The Japanese government has given a grant to the International Volunteers of Yamagata (IVY) group, which supports poverty reduction projects and organic product markets in Svay Rieng and Preah Vihear.

A contract between Japan and IVY worth $338,963 was signed by Kumamaru Yugi, Japan’s ambassador to Cambodia, and Ayumi Matsuura, country director for IVY, late last week.

IVY will help to improve farmers’ community management, strengthen the organic rice market in Preah Vihear and also continue to help the Svay Rieng Agro-Products Cooperative by building a new market center to help get vegetables for sale more effectively.
