High capacity western digital drives

Featured Replies

I've been wandering around Pantip and many of the stores are closed with many others apparently running down their stock.

Can anyone suggest a store or mall in Bangkok that might stock the full western digital range and NAS boxes. I'm looking for two 4gb black or 2 6gb red.

My first choice for IT stuff is Fortune Town at MRT Phra Ram 9 Station. Especially since they started renovating Pantip.

Better organized than Pantip, and no aggressive porn hawkers to dodge. Top 2 floors. Hundreds of vendors, dozens sell hard drives.

Fortune Town is a good choice - MRT access, and I got my Synology NAS there ( have also seen Drobo and QNAP i think) - last drive I got there was a 6Tb WD Red.

Thanks. Ended up in Fortune and found a few stores that carried a decent range of drives and storage products on the second and third floors. As always stunned at how expensive disk drives are here compared with other countries given that they are manufactured here. Someone has a tight grip on the distribution and pricing because everywhere including online are quoting the same price.

2 TB WD external drive approximately $75 at Amazon dot com (plus shipping}.

Depends on where you are buying from of course but the price variations are often not big.

Here are three screenshots taken from popular retailers in the US, Australia and Thailand just now for a WD Black 4TB.

It's true that especially in the US you can get some bargain prices at sales, but much of the time the difference is not that great.

Converted in to baht, the prices in my screenshots are:

Amazon USA - 7796 baht

MSY (Australia) - 7758 baht

JET Computer Thailand - 7740 baht
