ricku
So I'm bringing 12 blue pills with me to Thailand. They are the real deal, legaly bought from a pharmacy in Shanghai. Thing is, I did not need a prescription to buy these pills in China, but I know that a prescription is needed to buy them in Thailand.. What will happens if they search my bags at the airport and find the pills? Slap on my fingers? Heavy fine? Jail? It's just 12 pills, meant for personal emergency use, when I've had way too much to drink and my missus still wants some. And that happens quite frequently.. sunnyjim5
It would be illegal to bring this stuff into Thailand. You must determine the degree of risk you are prepared to take.

Popular Post Sheryl
While the drug requires a prescription to be purchased in Thailand (per Thai FDA regulations) it is not a controlled substance nor on the list of drugs for which a permit is needed to bring into the country. So as I read the regs, as long as it comes in with you in your personal effects and quantity does not exceed a 30 day supply it does no break any law. I don't think any problem at customs. Where people have gotten into trouble with unprescribed Viagra in Thailand has been buying it without a script (often inadvertently, getting a fake version into the process) and then being apprehended by police in a sort of sting operation, this happening in venues catering to "sexpats" with a lot of sex workers/bars etc. Also heard of people being picked up by police for whatever reason and then found to have the pills on them with no proof of prescription and being hassled for it. (likewise in the venues previously described). In both these sorts of instances, usually resolved with a bribe. If you will not be carrying it about with you to bars and the like, little chance of an issue like this.
ricku
Thanks for the info Sheryl! Much appreciated. Guess I'll take them with me after all. Yeah, if people were jailed for bringing personal viagras, I guess we'd hear a lot about it in the news.

masuk
According to an article in Thai Visa a year or so back, the Government authorised the manufacture of Viagra in this country, to overcome the fake and illegal viagra coming into the country. The price is supposed to be much less than it had been selling for illegally.
micmichd
Carry a receipt from the pharmacy in Singapore where you bought them and get ready to proceed this at the customs. Or get generic Kamara in Thailand, and don't drink too much

tonywillo
Get a Mortar and pestle grind them up, add a little water to the same consistency as toothpaste. Get an empty toothpaste paste tube and big syringe to inject the Viagra back into the empty tube. I defy anyone to know the difference between this and toothpaste. DGS1244
Or you can just toss them and buy the generic ones here if you are worried about it...... 4 for 180 baht in most pharmacies. If you are only paying that much then it is fake, even Karmarga is more expensive. I have a very friendly pharmacist who says that there is no way you can sell the real stuff for that price.

mikebell
I took 6 last night but only 5 of them worked. Swallow them down with plenty of water or you could end up with a stiff neck. I pay 200 for 4 Kamagra.

asdecas
Too, too silly. Nobody is going to apprehend you for carrying 12 Viagra for personal use without a prescription - unless you happen to be smuggling heroin or your name is Charles Sobhraj or some such as well. And in any case, Kamagra, the locally-manufactured generic is, as written above, perfectly effective and genuine if bought in a reputable pharmacy, and should cost 180-200 Baht for a 4-tab sheet. I would avoid buying from street vendors in tourist areas, and pharmacies in those areas may sell at an inflated price. Oldgumshoe
I have a letter from my overseas doctor which lists all the meds that I am on for diabetes etc and that also includes Viagra for ED. I carry this letter just in case I was to be pulled up at customs in Bangkok which has never happened in the years I have been coming here. Now I am here for longer periods I need to sometimes top up my meds from the local pharmacy and most are prescription items so I showed the pharmacist the letter and he was quite happy to supply me everything I need including Sidagra for 180 Baht for pack of 4. I hope this helps.

Maybe the pharmacy you go to, but I can guarantee it is not difficult to find at this price at the vast majority of pharmacies in BKK. 100 baht for 4x50mg pills or 180 for 4x100mg pills. Very, very standard. You are being ripped off.

I think ( just think ) the more you approach the bar scene , the more expensive it is: Hua hin, where there are bar girls and " masseuses ", a pharmacy asked 350-400 ( I don't remember exactly ) bahts for 4 pills 100 gr

Are you joking ??Must be joking.I don't carry viagra, but I always carry any drugs/ tablets I may need, panadol to something more heavy duty, some in carry on, some check in. I've never had to show or explain any of them, Thailand or any other country.....ever! Theoretically you may need a prescription, but practically.......? A couple of years ago I bought a course of antibiotics and the pharmacist asked if I wanted viagra, so maybe a prescription is not required. He may have thought I looked about the right age to need some 'chemical assistance' bit was too timid to ask. Don't worry, bring your performance enhancing drugs. I don't know what "heavy duty" drugs you are speaking about..... But you are giving horrible advice. And yes..... "Practically" not just "theoretically" taking prescription painkillers to countries like Japan or Singapore without the proper paperwork can land you in jail! Some drugs are actually 100 percent illegal in Japan and they are not even allowed in for personal use as a tourist! With or without a prescription! Adderall and the common allergy medication pseudoephedrine are just two examples. You are giving dangerous advice.....
