BANGKOK: -- Deputy Prime Minister Wisanu Krea-ngarm is taken to task for allegedly writing a note to the chief of the corrections department seeking the suspension of jailterm for a prisoner.

Mr Ruangkrai Leekitwattana, a legal advisor of the Pheu Thai party, today (Monday) lodged a complaint addressed to Prime Minister Prayut Chan-ocha calling for an investigation into the ethical conduct of Deputy Prime Minister Wisanu.

The former senator accused Dr Wisanu of writing a note to the director-general of corrections department requesting for the suspension of imprisonment for a prisoner. He pointed out that Dr Wisanu’s move might constitute a violation of the PM’s Office regulations regarding code of conduct of political appointees.

He pointed out that Dr Wisanu’s note could benefit the prisoner whose identity was not known. He also demanded that the National Anti-Corruption Commission investigate the deputy prime minister.

Earlier Dr Wisanu admitted that he wrote the note to the corrections chief after he received a complaint from the prisoner’s family asking for the suspension of his jailterm so he could attend the Asia-Pacific orchid exhibition to be held at Muang Thong Thani during March 19-27.’

Suspend prison gaol term so of prisoner Mr X so he can go too the orchid show, Well then since you put it like that...

Not enough information guy's, when will these jurno's learn to gather info and write a story??? ie what was the connection of prisoner Mr X to the DP, what prison was he doing time, how much time had the bloke served, how much time left to serve? why was an orchid show reason good enough to request suspension of gaol time? was the DP coerced in any way (brown envelop?) Is prisoner Mr X out or still in gaol? and then questions and answers regarding the chief of corrections.

There's much more to this story but geezz I wonder if the PM will come out and tell the media to report thing that won't hurt the country again?

Some people could suspect that due to the high ranking government official, this story will be killed and not heard of any more.

Lets hope it does not get killed and gets investigated. Corruption is bad no matter who perpetuated it.

Appointed by a non elected Junta - military appointee. Appointed by a non elected criminal fugitive - political appointee.

Elected by the Thai people to govern them fairly in accordance with the law - to rare to be named.
