Applying for B Visa in the UK

Featured Replies

I have a current WP and B Visa which will expire in July.

I have been offered a new job to start asap.

I am going to the UK on 17 March and would like to apply for a B visa in the UK.

I called the UK consulate and they said that they can only issue 3 month B visas.

1. So when I come back to Thailand do I apply for an extension to the B visa or apply for a new 12 month visa?

2. Is the paperwork for the extension the same as for the original B visa?

3. Do I need to do anything regarding the WP for the curremt job as I will resign just before leaving Thailand.

4. I have considered appying for a Non-O (married to Thai) in the UK and then applyiing for B visa once I return. (less paperwork)

5. I cannot apply for a support Thai wife visa as I do not have the funds available in my bank account. Or could I use my salary payments over the past 18 months?

Thanks

1. You could apply for a one year extension at immigration after you have a work permit or go to Penang for multiple entry non-b visa.

2. No You need a work permit and a stack of documents from your employer.

3. You will need paper work from your new employer.

4. If you get a non-o visa based upon marriage you would not need to go out again to get a non-b visa. You can get a work permit and work with a non-o visa or extension of stay based upon marriage.

5. You don't need financial proof to get a non-o visa based upon marriage to a Thai. That is only needed to apply for an extension stay. You can get a multiple entry non-o visa at the embassy or one of the consulates (other than Hull),

OK. Thats good news as I had read elsewhere that you cannot get a WP on a non-O visa issued by an embassy.

So i will get a one year multiple entry Non-O visa in the UK and then apply for my new WP when I return to Thailand.

Thanks
