Can AIS 1 2 Call be recharged from overseas or online

Featured Replies

Does anyone know if this is possible?

Thanks for advice...

If you have a Thai bank account with internet banking, you can top up online.

If you have a friend in Thailand, I believe they can buy a top up voucher and send you the 16 digit top up number, and you can use that to top up using:

Press * 120 * 16-digit PIN# icon_telephone.gif

This also shows some options that might help: http://www.ais.co.th/12call/en/topup.html

Yes, so long as you have Internet banking, whether or not you will need an OTP (one time password ) is up to the bank, or so I thought

Whenever I want to top up my DTAC number from SCB I need an OTP, whenever I want to top up my GF AIS number, no OTP needed

Complained to SCB and they stated the OTP was a DTAC policy, not theirs, so I would check directly with AIS

If an OTP is required then you must have your Thai cell phone set to roaming and turned on when you top up since International SMS's are free

Easiest method if you have a contact in Thailand:

He/she buy a top up card / slip with the top up pin.

Then on his/her phone enter:

*130*<your! 10-digit phone number>*<top up PIN>#<dial button>

And of course any person in Thailand with internet access to his Thai bank account can top up any prepaid number.

Can do it with debit/credit card here: https://aiseservice.ais.co.th/eServiceWeb/

Of course, it being Thailand, there is no guarantee that it will actually work.

I recently set up my SCB account with the details of my AIS (12Call) phone. I've so far topped it up successfully from my SCB account twice - from WITHIN Thailand. As I've often logged into SCB Easy from UK I'm hoping it'll work from there too.

Note that each time it sends an OTP SMS so the phone needs to be set for roaming.

I meant using a foreign credit/debit card.

The question is whether you need to top up because you are using your phone overseas and running out of credit OR whether you need to top up because you are expecting to be outside of the country for some time and therefore don't want to lose your phone number? Which?

No! AIS told me specifically that it MUST be a THAI card. My SCB card is ATM only which is why I push the money from SCB to AIS, not even using the card.

That's not really relevant because my answer (#6) covers both those situations as long as I can log into "SCBEasy" which i have done for years and also the phone is set for international roaming which it is. (See also Langsuan Man's post #3)

Do the Sims completely die when the existing validity of credit expires. ?? Or Credit disappears but Sim can still be topped up for a while before its finally cut off ??

I suggest you call AIS Help Centre on 1175 to get an answer to that - I've found them to be very helpful and they speak good English.

If you do get an answer, please let us all know on this thread.

Do the Sims completely die when the existing validity of credit expires. ?? Or Credit disappears but Sim can still be topped up for a while before its finally cut off ??

From AIS website (may or may not be up-to-date):

Q In case of not topping up or having no usage, how long can I keep my number?

A In case there is no usage e.g., calling out, receiving calls, using Internet, SMS, etc. or no top up for 90 consecutive days, with no remaining validity, the number will be automatically terminated.

So thats suggesting that perhaps you could activate roaming maybe use on last few days of validity (data use for 1 minute) and then would have 90 days to retop up ?? Am I understanding that correctly ??

In fact their system allows you to choose a foreign card...right down to the name of the foreign institution. But it didn't work for me. Perhaps because the registered SIM user and the cardholder names don't match. Who knows?

Exactly! As I said above it must be a THAI card. AIS told me that after I called them having previously tried 2 UK cards (1 credit and 1 debit) and got the same as you got.
