RID assures enough water supply until July

BANGKOK, 11 March 2016 (NNT) – The Royal Irrigation Department has affirmed that through its management there will be sufficient water supplies until July of this year as rain making operations are stepped up.

The department has reported that since May 1, 2015, a total 2.118 billion cubic meters of water from the four major dams of Bhumibol, Sirikit, Kwae Noi Bamrung Dan and Pa Sak Cholasit has been used, leaving 2.82 billion cubic meters for daily usage and for maintaining the ecosystem.

It affirmed that the remaining amount will be sufficient for Bangkok and its vicinity until this July, when the rainy season is expected to start. Nonetheless, it urged all sectors to contribute to conserving water.

At the same time, the department began rain making operations nationwide this past March 1 with an emphasis on the northeast.

What effect does the rainmaking actually bring? Nothing.

Seeding the clouds in one location so it will rain down, prevents raining down in a different location. There is nothing to win . . just one location gets water while the other location gets nothing.

Not any extra water because no extra clouds facepalm.gif

Not all clouds produce rain. Cloud seeding produces extra rain. Why else would it be done?

I know how to get more water.......build a high speed rail link......thatll do it or ask TAT to encourage high end water to come to Thailand..thatll be Royal Water obviously

"...sufficient..." if they don't spill it all during the crazy songkran circus...

When a govt. dept. makes a statement like this why do my concerns increase by a factor?

Flood, drought, flood, drought, flood, drought... I've gone numb hearing about them both every year.

How about drainage channels to carry the seasonal excess to where it can be stored, or is that simple-minded?

Good idea. Tell us more.

Have a look at East Yorkshire - drainage channels along the River Hull floodplain, Tophill Low reservoir - that kind of system. Just takes a lot of digging.

Ah, never mind. Carry on with the flood/drought thing.

The question arises , what happens after July , besides more talk................................................coffee1.gif
