I need assistance with options. I currently have a non-immigrant F with valid work permit. My contract is ending soon. I understand that the work permit is job specific and I will need a new one. However, mt F is valid till May 2007. I am American under retiremnt. I want to travle and find another job. What are my options. I have heard that as long as I don't work I can use the vise till it expires is this true?

I have no idea what an immigration F is but had this been a non immigration O visa then it would become null and void within 7 days of your WP expiring.

A visa-extention becomes null and void if the job is gone. Not so a visa that is not yet extented.

F: Not sure, stands for official/diplomatic.

F is usually official Axel. Diplomatic is D.

Found it Dr.: :ohttp://www.thaivisa.com/281.0.html
Non-Immigrant visa "F"

The Non-Immigrant "F" visa is for "Official".

One example is persons in the Diplomatic Corps.

But now, where is the D?

It is called a "Diplomatic Visa" and is in a class by itself. It is not the "F" non immigrant visa.

4. DIPLOMATIC / OFFICIAL VISA

- Upon official request, Thai Embassies and Consulates-General may grant visas to diplomatic or official passport-holders who wish to assume duties at a foreign Diplomatic Mission or Consulate or International Organization in the Kingdom and to their family members.

- Supporting documents are Note Verbal and/or documents issued by the foreign government or international organization, certifying the identity of the person concerned and his/her purposes while residing in the Kingdom.
