Bored with the internet. What are your 2 favourite websites?

Featured Replies

Everyday I look at the local newspaper from the nanny state that I grew up in and also thaivisa.com These 2 websites are what I will look at everyday for a long time to come.

What are your 2 favourite websites that you look at on a daily basis? excluding thaivisa.

Im a bit bored with the internet and looking for stimulation. Do not list any romantic adult sites.

cheers

I have an online index of favorite websites or useful info or just entertaining, made for personal use but it's open. Maybe something for you there. http://snip.li/aRMP

Will update it today with some Asia news links.

Edit: I usually start the day with

http://www.techinsider.io/

http://uk.businessinsider.com/

http://www.vice.com/

http://www.atlasobscura.com/

http://www.entrepreneur.com/

www.piratebay.com and www.busyteacher.com and plenty others....it all depends what your hobbies are.

We might all look similar, but we all have different interests. There're plenty of motorcycle websites that are of interest, and I've even heard websites where they show people how to crack certain programs.

But we all know that it's not allowed and of course would nobody do that. Some of my friends love to play golf and I hate it.

The adult thing would be how hamsters reproduce.

I kind of like theregister.co.uk, an IT news web site with a soooo typical British humour. Reading user comments is especially fun.

Being a civil aviation enthusiast (and suffering from mild fear of flying) I also find the pprune.org forum (Professional Pilot's Rumour Network) quite interesting and informative.

imgur.com

ted.com

Bound to happen, someone linked to a porn site. Removed and a caution to be careful of what links you decide are 'interesting'.

Just took me more than 2 hours to get through this topic. Some really interesting links there.

Thanks to all who shared them.

Number one at the moment - Reddit

Otherwise a potpourri I do look at Politico these days on a daily basis...

Tough question....the journalism on most of these indie sites really sucks....so stick to nyt, hbr, new yorker, foreign affairs, atlantic....letters daily

My favourite is probably Feedly.com.

A really good news aggregator that you can configure with all of your favourite topics.

Good Android app, too.

All the members who use the dating sites are either asleep, or too embarrassed to admit it.

some good stuff there...

here's my two smile.png

wisegeek.com ...............answers all those questions I never knew I had.
tnlplanet.com.................computer & internet info...... at a level I can comprehend

Stumbleupon has an add-on for Chrome, Opera and Firefox (as well as IE).

It will really improve your websurfing experiences. You get an account, pick all your areas of interest...and click stumble. It then gives you a nifty website relating to your interests (website posted by other stumblers). You can recommend any sites you find..as well.

It is sort of like channel surfing, on cable. lol. You can exclude (or include) adult sites...and if you are caught with a nudie pic, you can tell your wife it wasn't your fault. Stumbleupon brought it up on the screen.

You can also stumble videos, news...and lots of other things.

I mix it up....music, video, history, art, internet, hardware, software, camping, traveling, recipes, sports.....

you get the idea.

You might want to use another add-on, similar to "flipper" or "next please" for firefox. If a photo pops up, you can click on next and see the whole series.

http://giveawayoftheday.com gives you a chance to download free software (no viruses/malware) that are offered for one day. It changes about 3pm here, every day.

Look at the ratings and reviews before you download. some garbage but many useful, expensive programs.

www.nannystate.com

Should make you feel at home.
