Defense Minister affirms transparent operation of ministry

BANGKOK, 16 March 2016 (NNT) – Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Gen Prawit Wongsuwan has stated that the work of the defense ministry must be transparent and for the utmost benefit of the public.


Opening a seminar on the topic “A Ministry of Defense Without Corruption”, Gen Prawit addressed members of the office of Permanent Secretary of Defense and high ranking military officers. In his speech, he affirmed that his ministry has been working to ensure transparency in its operations and the best utilization of its funds, which were derived from public taxes.

He stated the ministry has been adhering to the policies of the government and the prime minister, which call for direct solutions to national problems and all-around reforms with an emphasis on ending corruption.

The seminar was organized by the Ministry of Defense and the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) to instill morality and discipline in the civil servants under the ministry of defense.

Good, so we can expect to see all budgets, bidding processes and expenditure put online for public scrutiny, along with independent audit verification, in the very near future, right?
