The demarcation process of the Cambodia-Vietnam border covering three provinces is almost 90 percent done, according to a report on security and social order. The report, issued by the National Police, said that 89 percent of the demarcations had been completed by planting 282 border posts out of a total of 314 along the Cambodia-Vietnam border.

The report also claimed the demarcation process had been politicized by the opposition CNRP, referencing comments by CNRP officials about the issue and the trip to Svay Rieng in June, 2015, that resulted in a number of injuries to both Cambodian and Vietnamese citizens. “In 2015, the culture of dialogue was shaken, [and this was] caused by the opposition party in order to pollute the social security atmosphere by taking the eastern border issue for political gain by falsifying and accusing the government of using fake maps to demarcate the borderline with Vietnam,” the report read.
