Lost passport: Can I get a 30 day visa exemption on an ETD?

Featured Replies

Hello respected knowledge base!

I am in Thailand with a lost passport and wondered if I could seek your advice...

I was planning on travelling to Singapore on the 23rd March to see family for the weekend. On the way back in to Thailand I would get a new 30 day visa exemption. This would then see me through to April 18th, when I fly back to the UK.

However, I've now lost my passport which makes everything far more difficult! My current visa expires on April 23rd, and I was wondering: is it possible to leave Thailand on UK Emergency Travel Document, and then re-enter on the same document, obtaining a new 30 day visa exemption in the process? I can then fly back to the UK and sort out this grand mess there.

I feel like I will have to jump through a lot of hoops for this one...

Many thanks in advance.

You can get a visa exemption on entry with a ETD.

You need to be sure the ETD mentions your trip to Singapore.

Thanks all, much appreciated.

Do you already have the ETD and have you been to immigration to request they reinstate your entry stamp ?

I have an appointment at the embassy in Bangkok on Monday to get my ETD. After this I guess I need to go to Thai immigration to have my stamp reinstated? I have heard it's possible to check this at the airport, although that could cause a delay.

Have you made a Police report about the lost/stolen passport? The Embassy will want a copy of the report and you should also complete form LSO1

You will also need confirmation of flights etc that you will use the ETD for. Not just e-mail booking but confirmed flight paid for bookings.
