I have jumped thru all the hoops in Thailand and finally got married. Have been unable to get a simple question answered from the Thai Consulate in Portland Oregon by e-mail. I understand i need a copy of my Thai wife's passport . My question is. Is a COPY of my marriage certificate NOT the original that has been translated from Thai to English good enough to apply for a Type O one year visa for marriage? Sadly after numerous e-mails over the last few months . I can not get a simple question answered. Any help i would be grateful.

You will probably need

  1. The actual marriage cert + a copy.
  2. A copy of your wife'd ID and tabian Baan.

I doubt a copy of your wife's passport is needed as many Thai people do not have one.

Why not ring the consulate I am told they are very helpful?

This office is in Portland Oregon and the woman is not Thai. Her hours by phone are very limited and she seems unwilling to reply to my e-mails. Would like to understand if a copy is good enough.
