tomwct
My fellow expats. I need help. I purchased this motorbike second hand from an expat 4 years ago. 16,000 kilometers. I have put 4000 kilometers on it, now has 20,000 kms. It has been a great bike. This is my first bike. I change the oil and automatic transmission fluid every six months, but I think I need to do more. Does this bike have filters that need replacing? I do not have a Yamaha dealer near me! Do I need to check my brakes periodically? How about a fuel filter? What other services should I check periodically? I have replaced my battery once, but still working well! Any assistance would be helpful! Thanks
papa al
AT oil, unlike engine oil, does not get real hot and does not break down, so no need to change that after break-in.
canthai55
Change engine oil every 3000 km. Check with Yamaha if it has an oil filter or not. Change gear oil yearly, and check brake pads and shoes at least this often.
tomwct
What is gear Oil? Is that automnatic transmission oil? Okay I will check on oil filter! Thanks
canthai55
Gear oil - the lubricant that goes into the gear case on your rear wheel. Honda specs engine oil. Can be ATF - auto transmission fluid. Don't know as don't have a Yamaha
papa al
If the brakes are working well and not noisy, the pads are okay. Brake fluid absorbs water over time and gets funky, so have shop change/bleed. Maybe lube the brake & speedo cables, kick-stands. No oil filter on Nouvos, prolly. don't think too mut.
