WHO urges Thailand to push forward proposal on fiscal health for sustainability of health insurance systems

BANGKOK, 21 March 2016 (NNT) – The World Health Organization has given suggestions on improving Thailand's National Health System, implying the need to integrate the three existing funds into a national system, according to an official.

Dr. Suwit Wibulpholprasert, the chairman of the committee on preparing guidelines for mobilizing resources to ensure the National Health System's sustainability, stated that he recently received comments from the World Health Organization (WHO).

Dr. Marie Paul Keane, the Assistant Director-General for Health Systems and Innovation and Mr. Joseph Gatzin, the coordinator of fiscal health, recently voiced a proposal on the fiscal sustainability of Thailand's health insurance systems, and has prepared guidelines on resource mobilization.

The World Health Organization supports the vision of a holistic national health system, and suggested that a national health system should not be split into separate funds.

On the topic of reformation, the World Health Organization asserts that a national health system should include all three funds namely government official welfare fund, national health insurance fund and national Health security fund, to ensure the system's sustainability.

Having a fair system is the hard part,

having a higher income should be linked to a higher premium,

which can be linked to the tax department, one fund will only be accessible

to all if a tax break discount for the higher contributors is given,

Health for every one, and access for everyone should be a right

as a human being, (2016)

Sorting out the dots for the i's and x's for the t's is paramount before any introduction,

other wise we will end up in the same inaquality MESS that the USA is in,and

People will die unnecessarily due to the red tape malfuntion.

a national health system should not be split into separate funds.

But that makes it easier for creative accounting that can hide manipulation of funds.

Until the gouvernement does something for the Thai, they don't wanna pay any tax, so health insurance for everybody would be for free, so it never comes.

Anyway why should the Thai gouvernement do anything because all of their employees have a insurance including the hi-so's. That's all they care about.

National health schemes struggle in the best of societies... The 30bt scheme here works.... to a degree.....not perfect by miles, but the poor can get assistance of sorts.

The next government will have the opportunity to expand and improve this scheme...... if there's anything left in the treasury.....which is doubtful!!

The Western Health Organization should simply butt out of Thailand's business.

"It's the World Health Organization."

Really? Sure it is.
