You can only obtain new visas from India.

If you wish to apply for an extension of stay to the "B" visa you will have provide documents (including a valid work permit) supplied by your employer.

Your local immigration office will provide a list of what is required.

If you are married to a Thai a number of documents are needed, which you can provide yourself, if applying for an extension based on marriage. Again the immigration office will provide the list which will include a requirement to have 400,000 Bht in a Thai bank or a certified income of 40,000 Bht/month.

I assume you entered the country with a non "B' visa and have a 90 day permit to stay.

  • Not sure why you need a job leaving letter?
  • If you are employed and have a work permit you can apply for a 1 year extension of stay without a problem.

He can apply for an extension but only with paperwork supplied by the employer.

I agree, but I wasn't listing all the requirements. You had already mentioned the documents from his employer and advised them to ask for the definitive list from the local office. I was simply confirming that being employed and in possession of a work permit entitles him to apply for an extension. smile.png

I think the OP is suggesting that his current entry is based on paperwork supplied from his old employer, and immigration will not extend based only on paperwork from the new employer. Is this true?

It might be !

A more interest fact would be to know if the OP has a work permit associated with the new job.

I do not see why an extension would be refused if the employer provided a complete set of documentation.
