Royal Dutch Shell on Tuesday signed off on the multibillion-dollar expansion of its Chinese petrochemical complex.

Shell’s 50-50 joint venture with the state-owned China National Offshore Oil Corp. will double the ethylene production capacity of the existing Nanhai petrochemicals complex in the Guangdong Province of China. The original $4 billion complex opened 10 years ago.
