There must be similar tests here but I haven't seen them reported. There probably are some toxic foods around. One of the worst would be instant noodles which Chinese visitors seem to survive on. I'm sorry to hear about the toxicity of the various noodle and banh trang products. One of my favorite dishes in VN is pho ga!

If you accept risk of cancer is based on lifetime exposure, then it follows, that there will be some more vulnerable than others. But it is good that tests have found this substance present, so more reputable food businesses can at least take steps to negate their own exposure. Biggest risk group would appear the young in VN.

But it should be pointed out that there are some other practices occurring in less regulated countries, that is equally shocking, and if not more, such as increased exposure to colistin resistant genes.

Colistin antibiotics are normally used as last resort, when others have failed, but it is accepted practice in many farms to use this antibiotic to maximise profits. Large corporations who purchase this cheap meat should be asked what steps they are taking to protect their consumers, from this potentially life threatening resistance?

Good to know.

Although went through that stage of trying to convert to thai food.

Got sick of white rice pretty quickly, and noodle soup.

And western food, well, you go into a burger king, the meat is imported from australia, supposedly, still tastes weird.

I find any western food, no matter where in Thailand, never tastes quite right.

So nowadays, well its too damn hot most of the time anyway, i usually just stick to fruit, cook my own vegies, meals, salads...everything her family cooks always has <deleted> chili in it anyway. Its 40C but here have a mouthful of chilli...Grrrrr.

Pmus when back in Aus, im working, sitting on my backside all day, so Thailand its time to diet anyway.

I dont know what the attraction is eating noodles or white rice all the time

No Visible health checks or standards. If the government banned selling food on the streets half the nation would starve and the other would be out of work.
