Dhammachayo summoned to testify



BANGKOK: -- The Department of Special Investigation (DSI) today issued a summons for Phra Dhammachayo, abbot of Dhammakaya temple for acknowledgement of criminal charges that include money laundering.

Commissioner of DSI’s monetary and banking affairs office Pol Lt Col Pakorn Suchivakul revealed that he has signed off the summons for Phra Dhammachayo as a suspect today to testify in criminal case that he was alleged to have been found guilty of conspiracy in money laundering, money laundering and receiving stolen property.

He said the abbot used to designate a representative to testify in the case.

However in the new development of the case, a complaint has been lodged with the DSI to take legal action against the abbot, prompting the need of the DSI to issue summons for him as a suspect, the commissioner said.

He said the abbot must appear at the DSI to testify on April 8.

But he maintained that the DSI investigators have yet to await until that time if he will appear to testify or not.

He said he has already reported the issuance of the summons to the DSI chief today.

Given the examples in the past. It's doubtful this guy will show when he is supposed to. Most likely he will send his lawyer in place claiming some BS excuse why he can't make it at the last minute. Pathetic these monks who have forgotten the most common practice of their own religion.

Misplaced wording, should be "alleged to be guilty of..." but not having said "found guilty in court".... I think we all know what was meant. no big deal.

How true, i don't think he does his own laundry and being a monk he wouldn't accept anything he hadn't stolen himself.

What's your problem? Suspect...testify...alleged..., nothing about 'guilty': so what are you rambling about? Or would your opinion be that this 'monk' could not possibly(!) be trialed, and, eventually(!), be found guilty by some court of Law?
