SONGKHLA:-- Drugs officers made one of the biggest 'ice' or crystal meth busts in years worth a staggering 6 billion baht if reaching its final destination. Two Malaysians were arrested, reports Thaivisa News.

Authorities said the drugs probably came from Laos and were on their way to Malaysia where they were likely to go to another country. The bust was made after two cars were searched near the border with Malaysia near Sadao, Songkhla, on Tuesday.

Chang Kim Sui and Lim Yian Hun were taken into custody following a tip off from drug suppression units in their native Malaysia that a consignment was in its way to the country.

Police are busy setting up roadblocks for the pre and post Songkran period and this helped with the arrests.

In all a total of 282 kilos of pure ice was found. Drug suppression officers said that the value of the drugs would go up in Malaysia and be worth some 6,000 million baht in a third country. The haul was the biggest in years, they said.

In another ice arrest a Thai man was arrested in possession of three kilos of ice in Nonthaburi, outside Bangkok. Napsaen or Prok Pheungsujarit was also paraded before the cameras as police and drug agents celebrated the massive bust yesterday.

The government of Laos should be doing a whole lot more to stamp out the importations of Methamphetamine

and its derivatives for the productions of crystal meth that keep pouring from the Laos on a daily bases,

strangely enough not to hear one word of condemnation towards Laos from the Thai government regarding

the huge quantities of drugs that is being apprehended every day, is someone sleeping over there

of is it a conspiracy of some sort to keep those flowing in?......

If they were from Laos, how many check points did they go through to get nearly to the other end of the country?oh hang on they must have gone through at lunch time when it is not manned.

You don't have to have bridges, with check points each end, to cross a river.

I've seen illegal product such as cars and building materials inc steel being crossed into Myanmar, and illicit drugs brought back on the retuned journey at Mae Sot during the height of embargo against Myanmar. The massive amount of cash, as indicated in this OP, is enough to suggest that the suppliers are in a position to be thinking well outside the square in it's dealings.. Since Thailand's War on Drugs which started in February 2003 Thailand has stepped back as a supplier and, among other areas, has become a distributer, leaving the supply to the communist countries of South China and Laos, and the military controlled Myanmar. Countries which Thailand, even with the assistance of the US DEA, have no jurisdiction,

Either that or they got waived through because of happy smile.

Hope we don't see more attacks on police as angry drug lords loose their shipments.

Then we neve know what happens to the siezures after the bust.

You want to stop this, When you find them with the drugs in their possesion, allow them to talk to Buddha, Alla or whoever and promptly put a 9MM in the back of the head and it will top !! Have not use for Dealers, Mules or users !! As for a user the 9MM the second time caught. Dealers and mules right where they are caught !!

Narcs always like to bull-up the value of their hauls to justify their existence. However 6 billion is ludicrous.

Even at the current Bankok street value of 2,500 - 3,000 per gram 282 grams would be worth 700 - 800 million.

But no dealer handling such a weight would pay anything like that. He needs to make a fairly enormous profit; after all he could get the death penalty for his labours.
