He isnt a thug he is a piece of s**t. Lock him up for life and throw away the key. Thailand is too easy on people like this and needs to step up and hand out harsh sentences.

Alternatively give him to the childs family for a few hours and I am sure justice will be served.

Yes, agreed, I have always favoured justice coming from the agrieved. And / or an official who carries it out for them. Like the executioners of yor would.

He needs a trip back in time methinks to the days of Vlad the Impaler and get something greasy and pointed inserted where the sun doesn't shine.

Problem in this country. They're far too light on discipline and punishment.

Where has the likes of good old Vlad got to when you need him. In the Middle East they may well let the family dish out the punishment. I know in the case of murder the family ha the right to perform the execution.

If it was my daughter I would want him to have a light sentence so I could get to him and leave him in no doubt of my feelings

So the jails are worse in your country? Where is that?

Where I am from jails are heated, air conditioned, have TVs and toilets in private rooms. Special meals provided according to religion, preference. Gyms, tennis courts, gardening, all that sort of stuff. Or you can study, and get access to computers etc. prisoners have rights.

The sentences are much lighter too, especially for drugs and stuff, most times offenders get many slaps on the wrists and jail is only used as a last resort.

READ it AGAIN please! I think your mouth or computer is a little ahead of your brain.

Where did I mention JAILS? Once?

First you have to "get" to the jail and once there, money buys more favours than in the West, that's certain.

We are talking about a country here where 18 year old males are considered children when it comes to crime and punishment. That includes murder and violent crime.

Drugs and stuff?? What is stuff? Taking a drug in my book is not a crime. It has no victim. If you equate it to suicide, you have to die first and that's a matter of choice. Here drugs is just a business. An illegal one where the authorities hold all the cards and play the deck for money, the whole time.

Either way, none of your diversive ramble relates to the issue here. Whether or not violent crime against innocent people is punished in a manner suitable and clearly, as clearly as the light of day can shine, it is not.

how many more like that in udon?

my Thai wife says all over Thailand there are idiots on the road with large knives ...influenced by what they saw in TV soap opera's

Absolutely right, and the same with guns, it seems it's now a fashion accessory and like you rightly said these stupid TV soaps are terrible in how they display weapons. Maybe something the government should look at. A good example is that idiot with the BB gun last week waving it at motorist, monkey see monkey do mentality.

They do have what you say in the UK but they shouldnt have. The trouble with the West is that they want to blame everything except the guilty.

Ok, I just read your post again.

So you would like to do something anally with him? Greasy and pointed?? Not my cup of tea, but up to you.

I do believe he will be jailed. And the punishment of being locked up in Thailand is all about being punished, not lightly as you are claiming.

You said the problem with this country is they don't punish them enough. I simply pointed out that punishment is lighter in the west, (except maybe in America).

The point that was missed somewhere:

In Thailand they may have harsh penalties for drugs, but for violent but non-fatal crime they often do not. Thailand is the land of "slaps on the wrists" - 1000 baht fines and back on the street for attempted murder kind of nonsense.

Van drivers brandishing guns, knives, road deaths through lack of safety, the list goes on.

Also - terms for drugs and other crimes often commuted or parted after 10 years. Thai prison may be a harsher punishment than the dream jail mentioned above - but the lack of consequence and the failure to properly prosecute violent and petty crime is what gives Thailand it's higher crime rate.

FACT.

Wow...

My Thai son is 15 and 2 meters tall.

He got kick out of school at 12 for stealing.

I brought him to Patong to live with us. He stole gold, money, and money from our business.

He is now on his last leg of Thai justice for motorcycle thief and brandishing a single shot gun in Isaan.

I kicked him out 7 times. He is now with us again. Number 8. You know Thai mothers. The kids are babies forever.

My son has not harmed or injured anyone.

This MF clearly should represent Thai justice.

Same like América. Trump wants equal measure. Swift justice.

In Thailand there has always been a saying that from the walking stage on that "Thais do not raise their children,The children raise their parents". With the "never fail" theme in the schools and the way boy children run their parents ,most think that they are invincible to any and all type of discipline and laws..As someone in one of the post here" a total waste of oxygen"

Id like to shake the hand of the guy who did his tattoos. They are awful !!!!

These cockroaches, sadly, do exist everywhere.

I read a story yesterday a bout a man who headed his wife and smashed the head up with a hammer before flushing the pieces down the toilet . Did i read anyone suggesting it was because of an inherent problem with english culture and the way we raise our children?

No .

But then its easy to think like that about Thailand if you already think you are superior.

Conformation biais .....keep it in check guys.

Ok, every body who has posted on this subject has been concerned about the treatment that may or may not, should or should not be given to this obviously vicious, irresponsible, and probably mentally retarded scum. But few have expressed concern for this little girl who will be scarred for life.

Does anyone know the extent of her injuries?

Given the level of medical help this poor child will receive unless her parents or grand parents are wealthy and can pay for specialist treatment she will be looked upon in Thai and many other societies as trash, cast aside to become an easy target for those types who look for these young girls/woman who are blighted through no fault of there own,and who quickly turn them into the village bike.

So on behalf of this little innocent and because non in her family will have money, may I ask if there is anyone in T/V who know how to set up a crowd fund ? So that she may at least have a chance.

I would do this myself but quite apart from not being computer literate enough, I am not a member of Facebook or any other such organisations.

So if there is anyone out there who can set one up and administer it, let's find out what this child needs medically and go for it.

Brownie points are not an issue here, but they will certainly be forthcoming to all farangs if we can be seen to help.

Thanks for listening people and I hope someone can do something.

I am not sure how this post will go down because for some reason non of my posts have a "like this " button and I do not know how to get one, so I can not monitor or follow anything.

I normally try and be moderate in my views here and not jump to conclusions or try and be judge, jury and executioner all in one but in this situation Im afraid I just cant see any redemption for someone who would brandish let alone use a samurai sword like this guy and from the reports, has had a life that has had significant involvement with crime....all at the tender age of 19 . I just cant see the point of trying to redeem this guy via a jail term .. yes yes I know all the social rights and nancy social workers out there will say he has rights ..... yes i agree and the public have rights as well, rights to not have thugs riding around the streets with samurai swords.... offer him a choice 30 years hard labour with no parole or self administered euthanasia....

He is 19 now....make the 30 years hard labour 50 and I will agree with your comment completely!!

Jannert, you raise a very good point!! Of course, I was and am extremely sympathetic to the young girl who is the victim of the piece of trash, but I was too angry with the thug to think about querying her condition. I do hope that she is receiving all necessary treatment and care, but despite having lived in Thailand for more than four years, I do not know what quality of treatment she will receive. As the innocent victim of a crime, I would hope that there is some provision in the Thai system for her to receive all necessary treatment, including psychological assistance, But on second thought, I suppose that it is quite possible that such a provision has not been enacted. If anyone can advise on this, it would be greatly appreciated. Like Jannert, I cannot see standing by and letting this child be a victim to the failure of the Thai government to properly address situations involving innocent "victims of crime"!! I hope to learn that Thailand has addressed this issue and that provisions have been made for her to receive every and all necessary treatment!!

As a famous movie states: You can't handle the truth.

You say that your son has not "harmed or injured anyone"..but advise that he (it appears you are saying) has been convicted of stealing a motorcycle AND brandishing a shotgun!!!!" Brandishing a shotgun and firing a shotgun differ only by whatever the intention of the "brandisher" at the moment might be, and the required pressure on the trigger might be.....in other words, worthy of almost no distinction in a court of law!! It sounds as though your son differs only from the subject of this post by reason of the fact that he has not YET pulled the trigger. Being a father of four sons who all have turned out well, I feel sad for you and send out wishes for a change in your son's mental outlook! Wishes not only motivated by compassion for being a father like myself, but also motivated by a concern for what your son, should he not "see the light" might end up doing. The subject of this post is clearly, imo, beyond redemption and in the vernacular of the "wild west" needs to be put down like a rabid dog"! I will pray that your son never gets to this stage!!!

Poor little girl.

Let the parents of the child kill him slowly.

Read the OP again, first paragraph.

He is the father of the injured child.

No, that's not correct, the phrase 'his daughter' refers to the man who was attacked.

When you look at your own posts, you don't have a feature to be able to like yourself. It is the same for everyone.

Your idea is good, if it was easy to donate through TV I reckon it would be popular. I would donate, I think many would.

What is a little bit of money to me, would definitely benefit people with NO money and medical bills. A bit extra cash could make the difference between this girl getting budget treatment or the best treatment. I could just cut back on throwing ping pong balls and things like that, and spend it on more worthy causes.

I don't know why it hasn't been done already. Maybe there is a reason? I am the same, no Facebook, so if we're on TV it would be better.

One junk of the failed educational system in Thailand!

I'd blame his parents, if he even had any, and their parents, and theirs, etc, etc. Nothing to do with the educational system in TH, but more with society as a whole.

Kids like this don't become psychopaths for no reason. Perhaps we can make a change if we can discover the real reasons and then change those reasons at the root.

By hanging this kid high we are only punishing him for his parents sins. What a world. We can barely say that a 19 year old is responsible, can we?

When I was 19 I was still living at home and just left puberty. Nine-teen.....still a teenager maybe?

How my son of 4 turns out in 15 years time is mostly my responsibility, nobody else's.

I recognize this kid for what he is but why do we always try to fight violence with violence. It's been proven not to be the solution, in any society.

I also don't have any other solution besides ridding the world of money, but that's not an option for many people so I don't know either. I just know we shouldn't hang this kid high, something doesn't feel right.

I'm not writing this in the nineteen year old's defense because when I first read this story I felt a huge anger inside and wanted to punish him in many bad ways but after I calmed down I realized that all the hang em high comments are by angry people who also don't know. If society was a just place this sort of crimes would be far and in between, that's simple science. What to do with these people? Any other suggestions besides lowering ourselves to barbarism too?

Gee, poor you at 19. When I was 19, I was dodging bullets and mortar shells in Vietnam, and wondering if I would be alive to see the sun come up the next morning.
