UXO Stockpile Discovered in Oddar Meanchey

A cache of anti-tank weapons, including mines and rocket-propelled grenades (RPGs) were discovered by authorities near the Cambodia-Thai border in Oddar Meanchey province’s Trapaing Prasat district on Tuesday, according to officials. Provincial police chief Men Ly told Khmer Times the stockpile was discovered during a border patrol of the area.

“We discovered 13 anti-tank explosives—including eight DK 82 mortars, four RPGs and an anti-tank mine—while our border guards were patrolling along the Cambodia-Thailand border,” he said. Mr. Ly said that he had informed technical experts from the HALO Trust Cambodia, who then securely detonated the weapons at the scene. “On that day, the HALO Trust Cambodia experts destroyed them at the scene,” he said.
