This cardinal has been reading the script from the Jacob Zuma playbook. He did not ask for,

nor authorise, the refurbishments. No question of demanding to know where the money was

coming from. No sign of refusing to allow the work to take place!

As long as the poor keep donating and tithing, the fat cats in the church hierarchy will keep on

hoovering the money up, and wallowing in it, all the while displaying their piety for all the world

to see, promising an eternity in heaven for their congregants, and Hell and damnation to those

unfortunates left behind.

Religion is a massive confidence trick; all smoke and mirrors. Karl Marx said "religion is the

opium of the masses"; what an apt phrase!
