Retro turntables sold in Bangkok?

Featured Replies

Mods please move if wrong forum.

Does anyone know where i might find a retro style turntable for sale? Obviously i mean a turntable that plays actual vinyll records. Im guessing somewhere in Paragon on the electrical floor, but what i really dont want is to pay 100,000 baht for a Bang & Olsen jobby. Im happy to pay around the 10,000 Baht mark, maybe 15,000.

Any ideas? Anyone seen them anywhere? I can order a nice one off ebay for the equivalent of 8,000, a real retro cabinet style thing on 60's style legs. Real nice. But the customs charges and VAT are going to be at least double that, and the delivery from Europe wont be cheap.

Any suggestions appreciated, thanks!

There are a few music stores in the Fortune IT mall next to Rama 9 MRT you could try. I was there a couple of weeks ago and lots of people buying records at a sale one shop was having so if they sell records then I guess some of the shops must also sell turntables. Try the higher floors at the hotel end, and not the Tesco end.

Lazada have several "retro-style" music centres for under 10,000 baht. Free delivery and C.O.D.

If you wanted to go a bit higher, Piyanas have Rega and Thorens turntables for under 18,000 baht.

Just looked and saw a Marantz for 7900 Baht - http://www.lazada.co.th/marantz-tt5005-4391093.html

Audio Technica 18,900 though not 'pure' turntable as it has USB output also- http://www.lazada.co.th/audio-technica-turntable-at-lp120-475179.html

Surprised to see these offered now - http://www.lazada.co.th/catalog/shop-consumer-electronics/?q=turntables

Are you in Bangkok?

There is (or was?) a shopping mall pretty much dedicated to high-end audio. It's a block or two in from the Big C on Ratchadamri. There was also a few shops in there that sold low-level electronics parts.

It is about where the red circle is on the attached map. I think I haven't been there since the redshirt demonstration. There were no signs announcing what it was, looked like just another office building.

I live within 100 meters the of Fortune IT mall, can walk there easily.

Yes there is a shop on the 3rd floor....near the elevators (lifts)....where they sell actual records and turntables as well as musical instruments

I do not know what the prices are like, but it appears to be a "high end" store for audiophiles.

Would expect it to be a bit "pricey" therefore.

But give it a try and see.
