FETCO says Investor Confidence Index improved this month

BANGKOK, 5 April 2016 (NNT) - The Federation of the Thai Capital Market Organizations (FETCO) said it expects the Investor Confidence Index (ICI) to remain at 96.14 for the next three months.

FETCO Director Kanate Wangpaichitr said that April’s ICI increased from the previous month by 1.95% to 96.14, where it is expected to hold constant for the next three months. Both Institutional and Individual Investor Indices have improved within the same time period.

However, the Foreign Investor Index declined slightly in April. As for how attractive Thai industries are to investors, Dr. Kanate said the construction industry is the most attractive at the moment, while the steel industry is the least.

The influx of foreign capital also plays a role in determining the growth of the Thai stock market. The FETCO Director said that Thailand's economic foundation is still strong, as the government continues to inject as much as 700 billion baht into the economy. It has only been slightly affected by currency fluctuations.

Huh. I would assume the government injection is in response to a weak domestic economy.

Silly me.

"However, the Foreign Investor Index declined slightly in April."

Investor confidence improved because investors are no longer investing in Thailand.

Meanwhile, a recent survey conducted by the Faculty of Economics of the Dhurakij Pundit University found that most of the entrepreneurs in the country polled or 78% thought that their situation worsened or barely changed.

I hope he was not following the SET today down over 26 points.

Sorry we do not accept polls apart from the Suan Dusit. Your statement cannot be right. 99.3% love the Junta. This message will self destruct in 5 seconds.
