Tourists are still flocking into Royal Flora Ratchaphruek 2006, while the exhibition displaying His Majesty the King’s royal duties at this event is attracting many tourists.

Despite the cold weather and fog this morning, both Thai and foreign tourists as well as school and university students are crowding at the exposition. Parks organized by countries such as Bhutan, Kenya, Japan, China, and the Netherlands also gain massive attraction from tourists.

Mr. Suthep Chaipayung (เทพ ชัยผดุง), a tourist from Phayao (พะเยา) province, said he is very impressed with His Majesty the King’s royal duties being exhibited at the Royal Pavilion in this expo.

Royal Flora Ratchaphruek 2006 organizing Christmas festivities

The Christmas ambience at the Royal Flora Ratchaphruek 2006 in the northern province of Chiang Mai is becoming more animated.

At the exposition on Sunday (Dec 24), many children and visitors received numerous presents from Santa Claus, and this allowed for the atmosphere to be more colourful than usual. Meanwhile, officials who were stationed throughout the expo also wore Christmas hats to liven up the event. The expo now opens between 9 AM to 10 PM, and the New Year’s Count Down activity will also be held there.

Furthermore, about 50 students in Chiang Mai were demonstrating in the expo how to make Lanna-style flags and other traditional items. This attracted and impressed many tourists, especially foreigners.

The event has continued to lure more visitors. Up until Saturday a total of more than 2.8 million people have visited the expo. The number of visitors on Sunday was over 64,000.

Thai orchid draws attention from foreign businessmen

Mr. Jed Meyanyiem (เจตน์ มีญาณเยี่ยม), President of Thai Orchid Exporters Association, said that Thai orchids displayed in the Royal Flora Ratchaprek have drawn interests from tourists and attracted both Thai and foreign businessmen. He revealed that currently, many foreign businessmen have informed their intention to place order for Thai orchid with the budget worth over 500 million baht.

Mr. Jed aniticipates that the business growth is likely to increase and circulating fund is estimated over 10 billion baht in the next year. The major trading partners of Thailand now are Japan, America, and China.

Not denying the interest in the festival but I do wonder how the numbers add up.

Friday 22nd and the 2 millionth visitor arrives from Japan.

By Saturday (the 23rd) 2.8 million people had visited the expo.

Wasn't over 800,000 visitors on Friday and Saturday a bit high?

we went about a week ago. flower shows are not my thing but this was great! especially the orchid exhibit. worth the admission price itself! got tickets at the entrance booth, 200 B. single entry. if anything had been stolen i didn't notice. a full day. and the kings temple is worth looking into, but an ordeal in itself.
