Local and military police in Prey Veng province are attempting to track down three armed robbers who robbed the owner of a wood shop, making off with about $20,000 in cash and jewelry in Sithor Kandal district on Saturday night.

Deputy district police chief Chan Narin said that a 45-year-old businessman was at his wood shop at about 9 pm on Saturday night when the robbery took place.

He said the group was armed with a pistol and beat the shop owner, stealing cash and jewelry before making their escape.

“The three robbers, armed with one pistol, entered the victim’s house through his back door while he was staying alone inside his shop,” he said.

“Once inside the victim’s house, they pointed the gun at him and threatened to kill him if he shouted for help.”

Lieutenant Colonel Seng Sopheak, Deputy Chief of Prey Veng Provincial Police, said the three suspects have not been identified or arrested yet.
